I High D! If I were to say this to a normal person, he/she would think I am drugged up and bragging about it to my friend "D" correct? Now if I said this to someone who took this management course, they would know that I am diagnosed to be a highly influential leader who possesses dominant characteristics.

From this test, I am actually pretty flattered that my results came back the way they did. I would say that the findings are accurate and encompass the way I act managerially. I would not want to become another type of leader; personally I think being influential is one of the hardest yet most amazing of attributes to develop in life. To have people look up to you and to be considered a referent is something I thrive to achieve. Having that dominant side also suits my personal profile in a sense. When time is running short and problems need to be solved, I like to be the go-to guy in making the final decision.

I believe these tests are indeed helpful in determining people’s management “type” and obtaining a better understanding of them. Psychologically you can analyze the way they view themselves, which in most cases accurately describes their very actions. This would also help in sorting through hundreds of job applications where time is a concern. You simple look for the ones with the leadership qualities desired and then follow up with the interview. Online dating is another example where this test can play an important role. eHarmony would be able to use this test as another form in which they can match their participants. So all the ladies looking for a dominant man, I am your second choice lol.

Ah, the winter survival scenario! Which my group (along with others) won, if you just happened to not know! ☺ For this case, I would want to have a leader with “S” High D traits. The leader needs to be steady in his actions and take into consideration that his ultimate decision(s) will affect the fate of many others. Therefore by remaining calm and directing people accordingly yet maintaining the ability to think on his feet and provide the final plan of action, I shall entrust in him my life lol.

  1. If you like to make quick decisions then I guess the test measured you accurately. I believe that in some ways the management test helps us better understand ourselves and the way we act. Regarding the stranded excercise, I actually think that a person with a dominant personality would be the best because you need to make quick decisions but I guess a steady leader with his actions could also be a good fit.

  2. II agree that these kinds of tests are very helpful in understanding oneself and others. I also believe that a person, who has characterustics of D type is a very strong and good leader, especially when the decisions have to be made quickly. But I would suggest that you also develop some charachteristics of other types of leaders, I,S,C. They might be very helpful in other situations when careful and thorough decisions must be made, or I would suggest that you have someone near you with the traits of other types. This would make you even a more powerful leader.

  3. I think I high D is a perfect combination for someone who wants to be a leader. You seem to be very influential, yet at the same time dominant in your beliefs. I think those traits are very common amongst the people in the life magazine picture you posted.

  6. I think any of the four characteristics are great to lead depending on the situation. It's great that you’re satisfied with your managerial style; that's the first step to becoming a better leader and fine-tuning your management skills.

  7. I agree with Ismael that any of the four characteristics are great but it depends on what situation you find yourself in, but its always good to maintain some qualities from the other three management types just in case the occasion calls for it.
It's great that the test accurately categorized your personality traits because it helps you as a person in defining yourself and by defining yourself and knowing what you want, you can take the necessary steps to get ahead in life.

  8. I agree with everyone that thinks situation plays a greater part in the type of management skill people use. Also, I think it depends on the job and the people that work with you. Overall, i think the test is pretty accurate in defining the different type of manager, especially for me. I am a C type of manager.

  9. Generally, I believe it's good to know your leadership style so you can understand how your actions and tendencies are perceived by others. While your type is the "ideal" for leadership characteristics according to the measurements of the DISC... Just remember that each of they types have room for improvement. I think that the most benefit comes from identifying your opportunities for development. The good characteristics of your type will shine naturally.

  10. I do believe too that these behavioral tests are very helpful in determining people's management "type", in your case high D as well as myself. i guess it would be hard to survive if we both fall together in a survival situation.

  11. Being of a High D personality type, requires lots of quick decision making, and i see from your blog that you have it. It is interesting to note that you said you would not be able to get along with another high d personality. But, i'm sure you can work on that as in the real work world, there are multiple personality types in a team. It would be helpfu to remember what the different kinds of personalities are out there, and use that as a basis of understanding and communicating with your team members to produce quality work.

  12. After working with you in the Jello-activity I must say the test assesses you very well. You are totally a D type. You work very fast, don't hesitate and while doing so you keep the group together. In that activity you were the leader and being in "your" team is fun!

  13. It's rare to meet an "I" person, being influential is a gift and when you combine it with a "D." You are right on track for leading your way in whatever task.

  14. I concord with your test results in your management "type." I agree that you are both dominant and influential. Within the managerial world I think you will do just fine because you got the best of both worlds, according to the test.
