Time Management
As the new semester kicks off, I am faced with a big problem. That problem would be that of "time management." It has haunted me here and there throughout my academic career but I have yet to address it seriously and it may finally affect me drastically. I have lost concentration in school and have spent endless hours being unproductive either watching t.v, surfing the web, chatting up a storm with friends, dancing senselessly by myself for no apparent reason, etc. Those hours could have been geared towards reading required/non-required material for courses/personal enlightenment and the like. I feel like every hour something can be done to ease the load of work school has thrown at me but I fail time and time again in trying to doing so. It is a major problem and needs to be fixed as soon as possible!

Welcome to the club. This problem has haunted me ever since I entered College as well. I overcome it at times, but it always comes back to haunt me every once in a while. Just have to continue building a habit where you can finally put aside all the extra/unnecessary things and focus on what's truly important.
ReplyDeleteI've come to the conclusion that the majority of College students have to deal with this predicament of time management. I work and go to school full time and its tough to have energy to do it all. For the first time I began to use an agenda and I've been doing ok. Although I just began using it 2 weeks ago, I'm up to date with the things that needs to done. Maybe you can start doing the same. Its good to have a reminder specially when time managing is not our best friend.
ReplyDeleteI understand where you're coming from because I am also facing a predicament when it comes down to time management. Like many other college students, we are all part of a generation that is easily distracted by things around us because it is hard to avoid things like the internet, our phones, etc. when it is all around us. I believe though, that college is also the best time to learn about time management and how to face it because as we get older we will be faced with more responsibility and if we don't learn to manage our time well by the end of college, it would only add to the burden we have after we graduate and move on with our lives.

ReplyDeleteI have similar problem, but I learned it the hard way. The first test I took as a College Freshman was history midterm. There was no homework or quiz before the test, just reading. What happen was I never open the text book until the night before the test. I had to stay up all night reading 6 chapters of boring history. After that, I started writing what i have to do, its due day and estimate the amount of time I would need in the baruch planner. Even though, I still do things last minute, I learned to save enough time to do it.
ReplyDeleteI get what you mean, I had the same problem with time management. My problem has decreased because I took up a full time job. The time that I would take to do unproductive stuff is now used for work. The time that is left over is spent at college and doing homework. I prefer spending time at work because you get paid unlike sitting at home watching TV. I keep the TV and other social activities for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem too. I guess that for me the environment that I was in will affect what i decide to do and that is not always what I am suppose to be doing or what I should be doing, for example school work. However, If I am at the school library or a public library I find it easir for me to actually get things done, so you could try that.
ReplyDeleteI think all of us get A.D.D or O.C.D every now and then. I have it all the time and I feel it's impossible for me to give everything I do my totaly concentration. I think if you figure out what's really important to you and set some goals, then you'll have motivation to concentrate on what will help you achieve them.
ReplyDeleteicic.....i think one of time management solutions is how to "manage" your psychology. we are not productive because we are always impacted by our negative emotion. if Im in a good mood, I will be very productive and effective. If I am not in mood, I feel so hard to concentrate on my work and i will be anxious about my procrastination.
